In 1871 the parish church of Rickarton was built and in the following year the parish itself was disjoined from that of Fetteresso and Glenbervie and erected quoad sacra. The parish had been endowed by a bequest of George Thomson, minister of Fetteresso, who bequeathed the residue of his estate for this purpose. The charge was later connected once more with Fetteresso, when the two session were temporarily linked between the years of 1933 and 1948 and in 1967 a further link was established with Durris. The linkage with Durris however was terminated a number years later in 1979 and in 1980 the congregation of Rickarton was dissolved. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Fordoun, later of Aberdeen and following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Kincardine and Deeside. |
