A Chapel of Ease was founded at Innellan in 1851 which later became the Parish Church of Innellan when it was disjoined from Dunoon and erected, quoad sacra, in 1873. At the Union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929 the parish church became known as Innellan Matheson and in 1962 a link was established between Innellan Matheson and the former United Free Church congregation of Innellan West. This arrangement however was terminated in 1972 to permit a union between the two charges, under the name of Innellan, and the united session was later linked in 1981 with Inverchaolain and Toward. Innellan Kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Dunoon. |
