The parish church of Resolis, which was known of old as Kirkmichael due to its original location, held a dedication to St Michael and was formerly a prebend of the Cathedral of Fortrose. In 1662 the ancient parish of Cullicudden was joined, by the Commissioners of Teinds, to Resolis and the churches of both united parishes remained in use until 1767 when the situation of the parish church was removed from Kirkmichael, and a new building was erected at Resolis. In 1977 re-adjustments of the boundaries of the parish of Resolis and of Urquhart took place and following this adjustment the enlarged Parish of Resolis became known as Resolis and Urquhart. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Chanonry later of Chanonry and Dingwall and, following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became art of the Presbytery of Ross. |
