In 1885 St Cuthbert's Kirk Session bought a building, to serve as chapel-of-ease, from the congregation of Bread Street U.P, which had been constructed in 1831 as a U.P chapel-of-relief. In 1887 the new St Cuthbert's relief church was given quoad sacra status and erected as St Aidan's Parish, and in 1934 a new church at Saughton was opened and dedicated. Edinburgh St Aidan's was later linked with Stenhouse Saughton and the two charges were subsequently united in 1993 under the name of Stenhouse St Aidan's. The kirk session sits within the Presbytery of Edinburgh. |
