Services first commenced in the church of Dalbeattie, later known as Dalbeattie Craignair, in 1842 and it existed as a chapel-of-ease until the parish of Dalbeattie was disjoined from that of Urr in 1864 and erected as a quoad sacra parish. A new church was later erected and opened for worship in 1880. In 1988 Dalbeattie Craignair formed a union with Dalbeattie Park, under the name of Dalbeattie and following the union a prior linkage that had occurred between Dalbeattie Craignair and Urr continued. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Dumfries until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright. |
