A church was opened at Greengairs on the 18th June 1876 and the parish was later disjoined from that of New Monkland in 1894 and erected quoad sacra. In 1931, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Greengairs Parish church united with the United Free Church congregation of Greengairs, after the union the former United Free church and manse were sold. The Kirk session of Greengairs, which sits within the Presbytery of Hamilton, became vacant in 1974 and remained so until 1977, during which year a link was established with Airdrie New Monkland. |
