The church of Dirleton, which was old known as Gullane parish church, was dedicated to St Andrew and formerly belonged to Dryburgh Abbey. In 1612, by Act of Parliament, the church was removed from Gullane and a new building, one of the first to be built in Scotland after the reformation, was erected at Dirleton. The church was later extended in 1825 and restored in 1930. In 1989 the Kirk Session of Dirleton, which presently sits within the Presbytery of Lothian, established a link with North Berwick Abbey. |
