In 1657 when the parish of Kinloss was erected, the lands allocated were annexed from the parishes of Rafford, Alves and Forres. As a result, and by means of compensation for lands lost, in 1661 the small parish of Altyre was, by Act of Parliament, annexed to Rafford. The parish church of Rafford was rebuilt some time later in 1826. In 1939, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Rafford of Parish church united with the former United Free Church congregation of Rafford High. After the local union, under the name of Rafford, the former High church was sold for use as a church hall. In 1961 Rafford was linked with Dallas and in 1987 with Forres St Leonard's. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Forres and later of Elgin, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Moray. |
