The erection of the Kirk Session of East Dulwich St James's was first proposed in 1881 and in 1884 it was constituted as a charge of the Church of Scotland. A church was later erected in 1896, services having been conducted prior to this date in temporary hall accommodation. In 1970 London Dulwich East St James's linked with the charge of London St Columba's Pont Street, however this arrangement was later terminated in 1972 in favour of a union between the two sessions, under the name of London St Columba's. A link later followed in 1983 with Newcastle St Andrew's. The kirk session, which records ministry from 1884, in the person of Archibald Alison MacKenzie, sat within the Presbytery of London, presently of England and formerly the Synod of the Scottish Church in England. |
