A church was first built at Dalmuir in 1903, and the parish itself was later disjoined from Old Kilpatrick in 1909, and erected as a separate charge. In 1976 Dalmuir formed a union with the former United Free Church congregation of Dalmuir Ross Memorial and the resultant united session of Dalmuir Overtoun later established a link with Bearsden Westerton in 1984. This arrangement with Bearsden Westerton however was severed in 1990 and in that same year the parish of Dalmuir Barclay was formed, when Dalmuir Overtoun and Old Kilpatrick Barclay united together. The kirk session has fallen within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Dumbarton throughout its existence. |
