The parish of New Deer, which was termed of old, Auchreddy, was disjoined from Deer and erected as a separate parish in 1622. The parish church of New Deer was also erected in the year 1622, but was later entirely demolished when it was replaced by a new and more commodious construction, which opened for public worship in 1839. The parish church of New Deer later became termed New Deer South and in 1958 New Deer South formed a union with the former United Free Church congregation of New Deer North and Maud Trinity, under the name of New Deer St Kane's. A link was later established in 1999 with Maud and Savoch. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Deer, until the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Buchan. |
