In ancient times the parish of Boharm and Dundurcas was named Arndilly and Dundurcas, until the church of Arndilly, which was a prebend of Elgin Cathedral, was removed to Boharm. In 1782 the Dundurcas portion of the parish was suppressed, with the greater part being annexed to Boharm and the remainder to Rothes. The ruin of the Parish Church of Dundurcas, which was closed in the same year, still stands in Dundurcas churchyard and in 1793 a new church was erected to serve the parish of Boharm. In 1946, after the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Boharm Parish church united with the former United Free Church congregation of Boharm Mulben and a link later followed in 1970 with Botriphnie. A further union was established in 1983 with Keith North and Newmill to form the session of Keith North Newmill and Boharm. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Aberlour and later of Strathbogie until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Strathbogie and the Presbytery of Fordyce were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Strathbogie and Fordyce. Following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Moray.
1946 Boharm and Boharm Mulben (Ref CH3/1527) united. 1970, united with Botriphnie (Ref CH2/39) under Botriphnie minister. |
