The old parish church of Sleat, which is thought to have been erected in 1631 and was later rebuilt in 1876, was dedicated to St Mary, and ministry of the session of Sleat is recorded from 1633, in the person of Neil MacKinnon. In 1983 a union was established with the parish of Strath under the name of Strath and Sleat. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Skye until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of Lochcarron-Skye. |
