Lenimore and Pirnmill Kirk Session, on the Island of Arran, was first established as a Free Church congregation in 1844. Upon the death of the first minister of the charge there followed a sustained vacancy and at the third vacancy in 1885 the members and adherents at Lochranza disjoined from Lenimore and Pirnmill and established a separate charge in 1886. The two disjoined charges however later united again in 1910, under the name of Lochranza and Pirnmill. In 1930, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, Lochranza and Pirnmill (later termed Lochranza East and Pirnmill) united with the former congregation of Lochranza Parish Church. The charge continued under the name of Lochranza and Pirnmill and later established a link with Shiskine in 1977. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Kintyre and later of Ardrossan. |
