The Church of Dores belonged, prior to the reformation, to the Abbey of Pluscarden, and the Kirk Session, which sits within the Presbytery of Inverness, records ministry from 1567 in the person of Sir James Duff. In 1943, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Dores united with the former United Free Church congregation of Bona, under the name of Dores and Bona. This union however was to be short lived and was later dissolved in 1973 in favour of a union on the same date with Stratherrick and Boleskine, to form the session of Dores and Boleskine. |
