The Parish Church of Ardrossan New Kirk Session was erected in 1844 to meet a requirement for a permanent church within Ardrossan, and the parish was later erected in 1851 when it was disjoined from that of Ardrossan and West Kilbride. However in 1929, at the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church, the name of Ardrossan New Parish was changed to that of Ardrossan Barony, and in 1985 it united with Ardrossan St John's under the name of Ardrossan Barony St John's. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Irvine and later of Ardrossan. |
