Glassary church, which was rebuilt in 1827, was dedicated to St Michael and ministry of the session is recorded from 1559, in the person of George Scott. In addition to the parish church there also stood within the parish boundaries, a mission church at Lochgair. In 1974 Glassary established a link Kilmartin and in 1982 the two charges united, under the name of Glassary and Kilmartin. The name of the united parish was later changed in 1997 to Glassary and Kilmartin and Ford. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Inveraray, until the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976, when it became part of the Presbytery of South Argyle. |
