Calderbank Kirk Session was established in 1885 when the parish of Calderbank was disjoined from that of Old Monkland and erected as a parish, quoad sacra. In 1930, following the Union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Calderbank Parish church united with the former United Free Church congregation of Calderbank. After the local union the Parish Church continued in use as the place of worship and the former United Free Church was converted for use as a church hall. In 1979, following a 5 year vacancy, Calderbank established a link with Chapelhall, this arrangement however was terminated in 1998 in favour of a link with Airdrie Broomknoll. The Kirk Session of Calderbank has fallen within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Hamilton throughout its existence. |
