Kirkintilloch St Mary?s Church, Dunbartonshire, is the successor to a large medieval parish appropriated to the abbey of Cambuskenneth. The original church was at some distance from the burgh and only replaced in 1644 by the building at the Cross which now houses a local history museum. The eastern part of the parish was then disjoined to form Cumbernauld. The present church (dedicated 1914) is in Cowgate. As a Church of Scotland charge it is in the presbytery of Glasgow and was formerly in the synod of Clydesdale. |
