The church of Tannadice was dedicated to St Adamnan and it belonged, prior to the reformation, to the Abbey of Arbroath. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567, in the person of James Melville. In 1962 Tannadice established a link with the charge of Oathlaw and the two session later united in 1982, under the name of Oathlaw Tannadice. The newly united charge was also linked in the same year with Fern, Carestoun and Menmuir however this arrangement was terminated in 1996 in favour of a link with Kirriemuir St Andrew's. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Forfar until 1961 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Arbroath, the Presbytery of Forfar and the Presbytery of Brechin and Fordoun were united together under the name of Angus and Mearns. Following the restructuring of the presbyteries in 1976 it became part of the Presbytery of Angus. |
