The parish of Kinloch Rannoch, which was known of old as Kilchonain, was united in the year 1585 to the parish of Fortingal, and the ancient parish remained so until 1845, when it was disjoined once more and erected as the quoad sacra parish of Kinloch Rannoch. A parliamentary church had been erected at Kinloch in Rannoch a number of years previously in 1826. In 1932, following the union of the Church of Scotland and the United Free Church in 1929, Kinloch Rannoch was joined with the Kinloch Rannoch congregation of the former United Free Church session of Kinloch Rannoch St Luke's. After the union, under the name of Kinloch Rannoch, the old parish church underwent improvements and a link later followed in 1955 with Braes of Rannoch. In 1977 a further union was established with Foss and Tummel to form the session of Foss and Rannoch. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Weem, later of Dunkeld and, following the restructuring of the Presbyteries in 1976, it became part of the Presbytery of Dunkeld and Meigle. |
