Between the years 1229 and 1238 the church of Riccarton belonged to the Priory of Dalmulin and after this time, and up to the reformation, the church was in the possession of the Abbey of Paisley. At a time soon after the reformation Riccarton united with the parish of Craigie and the two remained together until 1648 when they were once more disjoined. In 1823 Riccarton parish church was rebuilt on an alternative site to that of its predecessor. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Ayr and presently falls within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Irvine and Kilmarnock. |
