The church of Dalserf, which was known of old as Machanshire, was formerly a prebend belonging to the Dean of Glasgow and it held a dedication to St Mary. Ministry of the session is recorded from 1567, in the person of Andrew Hamilton, reader. In 1655, the parish church was removed from a site within the district of Machcan to an alternative location on the banks of the river Clyde, where a new church was erected. Within the parish boundaries there also existed mission chapels at Netherburn and the Rorison Memorial. The Kirk Session of Dalserf sits within the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of Hamilton. |
