The Parish of Bellshill was disjoined from that of Bothwell and erected as an independent parish, quoad sacra, on the 18th March, 1878. The parish church had been erected as a chapel-as-ease some time prior to this date in 1763. The kirk session, which is presently termed Bellshill West, sits within the Presbytery of Hamilton. |
