There was a Celtic abbey dedicated to St Blaan at Dunblane from a very early date. It was made into a bishopric by David I (c 1080-1153) around the mid 12th century. In the 16th century the parish was united with Kilbride. Dunblane was in the Presbytery of Dunblane, then the Presbytery of Stirling and Dunblane, then the Presbytery of Stirling. |
