A parliamentary church was built at Salen during the 19th century and the parish of Salen was later disjoined from that of Torosay and Kilmore on the 11th June 1845. In 1938 Salen united with the charge of Ulva to form the session of Salen and Ulva and links was later established, firstly with Torosay and Kinlochspelvie in 1961 and with Kilninian and Kilmore and Tobermory in 1972. The former Ulva Parish church was sold in 1954. In 1979 Salen and Ulva additionally linked with Kilfinichen and Kilvickeon in 1979 however this arrangement was terminated in 1985. The kirk session sat within the Presbytery of Mull until 1963 when, by Act of Assembly, the Presbytery of Lorn and the Presbytery of Mull were united together under the name of the Presbytery of Lorn and Mull. |
