Originally, Alva Church, dedicated to St Serf, belonged to the Abbey of Cambuskeith. Between 1581 and 1632 Alva was united with the parish of Tillicoultry. In 1929 when the United Free Church passed back to the Established Church, the charge became known as Alva St Serf's Church of Scotland in order to diffrentiate it from the former United Free congregation, which was termed Alva Eadie. However, these two charges were linked in January 1968, and later united on 3 June 1981; the united charge taking the simple name of Alva Church of Scotland. |
