Contract between James, earl of Hartfell, and David Young, glazier in Lenerick, whereby said David binds himself to put up in a house newly built at Newby such French glass as is fitting or necessary for the several windows thereof, 9 August 1658.
Note of accounts paid by James Carruthers for funeral of the Countess of Annandaill, etc 26 November 1673.
Letter from Christian Hamilton, lady Jedburgh, to Lady Cragiehall, her niece. Fernihurst 22 March 1681. Is sorry to hear that recipient's daughter has the smallpox; question of her marriage; does not recommend marrying her to one of our great persons, as once her fortune is exhausted, she will be treated as a slave; 'I have always bin of the oppinion that it is best to allay with persons of ther aun rank'; general suitability of the young man chosen, of a good family 'never tented with blood opression or disloyaltie and ever verie gud husbandes'.

Letter from H Douglas, lady Hartfell, to Hew Sinclare at Edinburgh. Lytlehope, 28 August 1656. Has been informed that Lady Dundas has an excellent receipt for preventing miscarriages; asks for this and for some of the plasters and for some of the new lint, as well as 2 pairs of tow cards, sack and tent.
