Dr George Gordon, naturalist and geologist, 1810-93, including correspondence on natural history and related subjects with Sir Henry James, Sir Roderick Murchison, Sir John Lubbock, Sir Philip M. Gray Egerton, Professor Sir Andrew Crombie Ramsay, Professors Thomas Henry Huxley, James Nicol, Robert Hunt, Alfred Newton and D'Arcy Wentworth Thomson, Doctor William Baird, Cosmo Innes, Charles Darwin, and others, 1832-93; notes on geology, mineralogy, zoology and botany, some relating to Shetland, 1821-79. Miscellaneous documents, 1736-1879, including executry papers of George and Archibald Craig of Pennsylvania, 1782-1820; letter from Major-General Sir Samuel Auchmuty to Captain Carmichael, R.A., in appreciation of his services in South America, 1808; correspondence of Mr Robertson, East India Chambers, London, with Earl of Liverpool, Marquis of Lansdowne, Duke of Portland and others concerning the case against Mr King, 1810; Gaelic MS, 'New song to James Forbes, covenanter in Edinburgh', signed by Benjamin Urquhart, 1829.
