The Bruce family were tenants at Jordanstone near Meigle, Perthshire and were related by marriage to the Grimond family of Newtyle, Angus. David Grimond was a sugar cane planter in the West Indies and his sisters were Margaret Grimond and Emily Grimond. Peter Bruce was married to Janet Grimond and was a tenant at Westhill. Janet died 1860 aged 49. Peter died 1876 aged 73. His son Andrew Bruce (born in 1843 at Westhill, Airlie, died 1918) was a farmer at West Jordanstone, Meigle. His son, Peter Bruce, born 1870, carried on with the farm until his death in 1933. His sisters Janet Bruce and Olive Bruce held the lease of the farm of Jordanstone until 1937.
