GD86/558 Instrument of Sasine under the hand of Quintin Kennedy, common clerk of the burgh of Air, notary public, narrating that Adam Ritchie, one of the bailies of said burgh (conform to act of council dated 8 December 1640 and by command of the provost, bailies, councillors and community of said burgh) gave sasine to Adam Knicht, as nearest and lawful heir of John Knicht, formerly dean of guild and burgess of the said burgh, his father, of (1) an acre of land with pertinents formerly the property of the late James Crawfurd and Mariot McMillane, his spouse, lying in that portion of the lands of the Sands of said burgh called the "Mure and Commoun", between the lands formerly the property of the late Adam Stewart on the north, and the lands formerly the property of the late James Eglishame, on the south, (2) an acre of land with pertinents formerly the property of the late Alexander Cunynghame lying in that portion of the Sands of said burgh called the Mid Sandis, between the lands formerly the property of the late John Stewart on the south and the lands formerly the property of the late John McNeidar and the late Robert Rankein on the north, (3) 2 acres of land with pertinents lying contiguous in that portion of the Sands called the Heich Sandis, extending from the barn and kilns formerly the property of John McQuattie to the turfery of Spittelboig, between the lands formerly the property of the late William Rodger on the north and the said turfery on the south, (4) 2 acres of land with pertinents lying in that portion of the Sands near the sea called the Laich Sandis, one thereof between the lands formerly the property of the late William Girvane on the south and the lands formerly the property of the late William Gottray and the late Thomas Mirrie on the north, and the other between the lands formerly the property of the said William Rodger on the south and the lands formerly the property of the said Robert Rankein on the north and (5) an acre of land with pertinents lying in the Laich Sandis near the sea, between the lands formerly the property of the late Peter Cunynghame on the south and the lands formerly the property of the late Adam Johnstoun, bailie of Air, on the north: which 7 acres of land formerly pertained to the late William Rysyde from whom they were lawfully apprised at the instance of the said John Knicht conform to Instrument of Sasine dated 20th August 1632 under the hand of George Mason, notary, formerly clerk of the said burgh, and are held of the provost, bailies, councillors and community of the said burgh in feufarm for payment of 12 pence Scots for each acre.
