GD33/62/14 Deed of bequest by Robina, Countess of Forfar (daughter of Sir William Lockhart of Lee, bart.), to William Earl of Aberdeen, her cousin, dated at Bothwell Castle, 3 June 1738. The Countess directs Mr. George Sinclair, advocate, Mr. James Bogle, solicitor to the Exchequer, Mr. Charles Morthland, professor of Oriental Languages in the University of Glasgow, or any two of them that shall survive her "To deliver to the said William, Earl of Aberdeen or to his order within six weeks after our death the following pictures now belonging to us in our house of Bothwell Castle, vizt. The picture of our dear Father and Mother, Sir William Lockhart of Lee and his Lady, the picture of her late sacred Majesty Queen Mary of ever blessed memory, the picture of the Right Honourable Archibald the first Earl of Forfar, our dear Husband, together with our own picture, and the picture of out dear sister, Mrs. Martha Lockhart, and that within six weeks after our decease, all which pictures we desire the said Earl of Aberdeen to accept of us as a small token of our esteem and regard for him, and to keep them as his own, except the pictures of our father and mother, which we desire his Lordship to give to our nephew John Lockhart of Lee, in case of male heirs of the said John Lockhart's own body, and in no other case whatsoever, and we appoint the said George Sinclair, James Bogle, and Charles Morthland, or any two of them, to take a receipt from the said Earl of Aberdeen of the said pictures in the terms above written". 3/6/1738 This record is Open.
