Dornoch Sheriff Court closed in 2015. All business and current records transferred to Tain Sheriff Court.
Dornoch Sheriff Court operated within the Sheriffdom of Grampian, Highlands and Islands, which also comprised at the time the courts situated at Aberdeen, Banff, Dingwall (closed 2015), Elgin, Fort William, Inverness, Kirkwall, Lerwick, Lochmaddy, Peterhead, Portree, Stonehaven (closed 2014), Stornoway, Tain and Wick.
As of The Sheriff Court Districts (Alteration of Boundaries) Order 1996, Dornoch Sheriff Court District covers wards 9-15 in the area of Highland.
