Title |
Trial papers of Malcom McIntyre, now or lately residing at Barrichauder or Barrichauvore in the parish of Kilchrenan and county of Argyll, and Alexander McDougall, now or lately tenant in Auchnacroine or Auchnacroive in the parish and county aforesaid and now or lately prisoners in the tolbooth of Inveraray, and Donald McIntyre, John McIntyre, both residing at Barrichauder or Barrichauvare, Archibald Sinclair, residing at South Basbreck, Donald McCallum, residing at Auchnacraine or Auchnacroive, and Archibald Campbell, residing in Hillachen, for the crime of assaulting and discharging loaded firearms at officers of the revenue. |

Description |
Libelled that on the evening of 1st Feburary 1820, pannels assaulted James Inglis, Angus McLeod, John McKenzie Hunter, George Campbell and William Dick, officers of excise, who had seized two casks of smuggled whisky belonging to Alexander McDougall. McDougall had accompanied the party of officers to a public house at Kilchrennan under the pretence of paying the duty exigible for the malt and was joined at the inn by the other defendents.
First day of trial: 28 September 1820. Failed to appear, decerned and adjudged to be an outlaw and fugitive from His Majesty's Laws, put to the horn, all moveable goods escheat.
