Letters of Presentation by Robert Munro of Foulis, patron of the chaplainry of Obstuill, directed to Mr Donald Munro, commissioner and visitor-general of Ross, narrating that the chaplainry of Obstuill, founded within the cathedral kirk of Ross, being vacant by the death of Mr John Dunbar, and in his gift, he has presented Hector Munro, his third begotten son, thereto, with all the fruits, rents, and profits thereof, who is to be sent to the University of St Andrews and College of St Leonard or to the new College 'quharthrocht he may profeit in letters and lernyng of the trew word according to the Act of Parliament maid anent the lernyng and instructioune of the youcht', and therefore exhorting and praying said commissioner to admit him to said chaplainry and cause the tenants, inhabitants and occupiers of the lands of Obstuill and fishing thereof, answer to said Hector Munro for their rents of said chaplainry, and that said commissioner should give him or his procurator institution of said chaplainry in the cathedral kirk of Ross on a Sunday before noon in time of divine service or prayers by delivering to him the book of the evangel in his or his procurator's hands in presence of the people and of a public notary according to the order made and observed by the kirk in like cases.
