Title |
Charter of Confirmation under the Great Seal of King James VI. confirming the charter (dated at the manor place of Capringtoun 18th February 1592) by John Hammiltoun of Cambuskeith, granting to William Cunynghame of Caprintoun, his heirs and assignees, the £10 land of old extent of Cambuskeith, with fortalice, manor place, grain mill and astricted multures (occupied by the granter and Robert Harper, William Craig, Archibald Wilsoun, John Crawfurde, Alexander Hobkine, John Fultoun, Andrew Dickie, Thomas Steill, John Dikie, John Hobkine, James Robesoun, Margaret Hoge, Jonet Fergushill, Robert Lymburnare, Robert Craig and David Broun) lying in the parish of Kilmernok, bailiary of Cunynghame and sheriffdom of Air: To be held de me, for payment of £66:13: 4 yearly; with precept of sasine directed to Mungo Mure of Halhallowchapell. The charter of confirmation is dated at Dumfries 24th November 1597 |

Witnesses to the charter confirmed, the said Mungo Mure, John McGauchane, Martin Cubbesoun, servitors to the said William Cunynghame, and John Fowlar notary public. Witnesses to the charter of confirmation, John, Lord Hammiltoun and Abirbrothok, George, Earl Marischal, Mr. John Lindesay of Balcarhous, the king's secretary, Sir Richard Cokburne Younger of Clerkingtoun, keeper of the Privy Seal, [Mr. John Skene of Curriehill], clerk of the Rolls, Register and Council, Sir John Cokburne of Ormestoun, knight, justice clerk, and Mr. William Scott of Grangemure, director of Chancery.
The writ has been much injured by damp and is partly illegible. See `Reg. Mag. Sig.' 1593-1608 No. 623. Seal gone. |
