Description |
The titles to the lands of Taynish, Danna, Inverneill and others in Knapdale, 1379-1886, were deposited in the Scottish Record Office on indefinite loan in 1982-3 by Dr John L Campbell of Canna. They were acquired by his forebears when in the 1770s they purchased the estates which had previously belonged to the MacNeills of Taynish and Campbells of Danna. The records are of particular interest to Highland historians, students of Gaelic place names and genealogists. A detailed calendar by R C Reid has been incorporated covering Nos 1-159 and additional titles have been more summarily listed.
