The Edinburgh Natural History Society (ENHS) was formed in 1921 with the amalgamation of the Edinburgh Field Naturalists' and Microscopical Society (EFNMS was founded in 1869) and the Scottish Natural History Society (SNHS was founded in 1881). Both predecessor organisations shared similar objectives in fostering an interest in natural history and organising field excursions and lectures.
