The documents in this collection were numbered in strict chronological order according to an inventory compiled c1921, but were arranged in two groups. The first comprised charters and long paper documents, arranged according to their inventory numbers. The second comprised smaller paper documents, which were bound up in eight portfolios, lettered A-H. These are not in the numerical order of the inventory, and their reference numbers show their location within a particular portfolio. The location of these documents in their portfolios explains the apparent gaps in the numerical series. |
