history |
The Scottish Women's Hockey Association (SWHA) was formed in 1900 and was the last of the Home Countries to become an organised association, Ireland, England and Wales already having formed associations during the 1890s. Although there were a number of women's hockey clubs within Scotland prior to 1900, it was not until Feb of that year that an organised Scottish Women's Hockey Association was formed. The association's objective was 'to have some representative and responsible body to look after the rules and to aim at improving women's hockey all over the country'. The SWHA merged with the Scottish Hockey Association in Jun 1989 to form the Scottish Hockey Union (SHU). |
