Service before Hugh Campbell of Lowdoun, sheriff of Ayr, and his deputes by Alexander Stewart of Garlice, Thomas Kennedy, son and heir apparent of Thomas Kennedy of Bargany, John Cunninghame of Caprington, Neill Montgomery of Langschaw, John Lockhart of Bar, Patrick Hannay of Sorbie, Andrew Schaw of Polkemmet, David Blair of Adamton, John Fullartoun of Dregarne, John Fullartoun of Crosbie, John Ker of Kerrisland, William Flemyng of Balrouchane, John Wallace of Neyrfurd, Robert Cunninghame of Akhede, Bernard Rede of Starquhite, Thomas Makdowell of Montdork, and Adam Stewart of Raith of Matthew, Earl of Lennox, son of deceased John, Earl of Lennox, as heir of this said father in the lands and barony of Tarbolton, extending in whole to £126 13s 4d of land of old extent lying in the bailliary of Kylestewart within the sheriffdom of Ayr, with the advocation and donation of the parish church of Tarbolton, th efollowing lands excepted viz the 20 merks land of Drumley, the dominical lands of Tarbolton and Auldtownburn extending to 10 merks of land, the lands of Ragwelhill, extending to 40s of land called Newmains, which the deceased John Dunbar of Interkin first had in wadset extending to 40s of land of old extent the Mill of Tarbolton with the lands sequels and multures thereof and the dominical lands of Galstoun, extending to 10 merks of land of old extent, with the tower and fortalice of Galstoun, and also of the 5 pounds of land of Lanfine, of old extent annexed and united to the foresaid barony, which barony (excepting as before excepted) was there valued yearly at 364lib Scots and in time of peace at 91lib and held in capite of the King, as Stewart of Scotland by the service of ward and relief, for yielding yearly of one suit of court at the court of the sheriff of Ayr, held after the feast of St Michael the archangel, and had been in the King's hands as Stewart foresaid by reason of ward through the death of the deceased John, Earl of Lennox, and non entry of his heirs which earl had died about 12 years and 9 months before |
