Instrument of resignation by Hugh, Earl of Eglinton, Lord Montgomery of the foresaid tower, fortalice and manor of Polnone with the following parts and portions of the Barony of Eaglesham viz 5 merks of the dominical lands of Polnone, lands of Hill extending to 37s 6d of land, 6s 8d land of 10s land of Leizet, 33s 4d land of Nether Bordland, 10s of land of Nether Castelhill, 26s 8d of land of Northbrakandrig, 26s 8d land of Southbrakandrig, 26s 8d land of Umdill and Umdhill, 50s of land of Fluris, 26s of land of Bogsyde, 4lib of land of Bonnington, mill of Polnone and mill lands thereof, extending to 6s 8d of land of the mill called Los Mylne and Mill Lands thereof extending to 40d of land all lying within the barony of Eaglesham and sheriffdom of Renfrew and the whole remainder of the said barony advocation, donation of the rectory of Eaglesham and other benefices thereof in the hands of James, Earl of Mortoun, Lord of Dalkeith, and regent of the King, his kingdom and lieges in favour of Hugh Montgomery, master of Eglinton, son and heir apparent of the said Earl of Eglinton and Egidia Boyd, lawful daughter of Robert, Lord Boyd, future spouse of the said Master their heirs and assignees following viz to the said Master and his future spouse and the longest liver of them two in conjunct infeftment and the heirs to be procreated between them whom failing to the heirs and assignees whomsoever of Hugh, master of Eglinton, of the said tower of Polnone, and rest of the barony of Eglishame and to the said master and to the heirs to be procreated between him and Egidia Boyd, whom failing to the said master's heirs whomsoever of the rest of the barony advocation, donation of the rectory of Eaglesham and of the said 10lib land of Stane of old extent lying within the bailliary of Cunningham and sheriffdom of Ayr reserving always the liferent of those parts of the barony in which the said Master and his future spouse are not infeft in conjunct infeftment to the said Hugh, Earl of Eglinton for all the days of his lifetime, reserving always the liferent of the foresaid lands of Stane to the said Earl and Lady Agnes Drummond, his spouse for all the days of their lives Witnesses: William, Lord Ruthven, treasurer of the kingdom, Andrew, Lord Uchiltrie, Robert, commendator of Dunfermline, secretary of the King, Robert Colvell of Cleische, Archibald Naper of Marchestoun, David Borthwick of Lochhill, advocate of the King, and George Auchinleck of Balmanno, Alexander Hay, (clerk to the Privy Council), and John Baillie, notaries |
