Extract retour of the service before Matthew Scherar, sheriff depute of Ayr (by Robert Mure of Caulduell, Neill Montgomery, younger of Langschaw, William Mure of Glanderstoun, Adam Quhitefurd, fiar of that ilk, Alexander Logan of Raiss, John Cuninghame of Hill, John Dunlop of Halfland, Patrick Mure of Cloncaird, Thomas Caulduell of that ilk, James Blair of Ladyland, John Spreull of Auchinbothie, John Muir of Craigskeane, Andrew McAlexander of Corssclayis and others) of Alexander Cunynghame, grandson of the deceased William Cunynghame of Aiket as heir of his said grandfather in the 33s and 4d land of Netherend of Binstoun and 5 merk land of Langmuir all of old extent, and in the glebe land of the parish of Dunlop, lying in the bailliary of Cunningham and within the sheriffdom of Ayr, and also in an annualrent of 21 bolls of oatmeal furth of the said lands of Littil Lugdorig and in another annualrent of 9 bolls of oatmeal furth of the said lands of Nettilhirst, and that the said lands of Netherend of Binstoun and Langmuir were then valued at 30lib Scots and in time of peace at 5lib Scots and were held of James, then Earl of Glencarne as superior, in free blench farm for payment yearly of a penny on the ground of the said lands at Whitsunday if asked only, and that the said glebe of Dunlop was then valued at 8 merks and 10s and in time of peace at the same, and was held of James Hamiltoun, vicar of Dunlop as superior for payment yearly of the said sum at Whitsunday in name of feu farm if asked only, and that the said annualrents were then valued at their amount and in time of peace at the same and were held of Margaret Montgomery, daughter and heir of deceased Hugh Montgomery of Giffen in fre blench farm for payment yearly of two pennies Scots on the ground of the said lands at the feast of Whitsunday if asked only, and that the foresaid lands and annualrents had been in the hands of the said respective superiors through nonentry by the decease of William Cunynghame two years before |
