Description |
The principal journal 6 Feb-4 May 1931 gives a detailed account of the voyage on 'Balmoral Castle' to Madeira and from there to Capetown with Harry Lauder as a fellow passenger (includes a self caricature by Lauder). Full account of his tour in Southern Africa, including meeting with Smuts and Clarendon, the Governor General, tour of the Kimberley diamond mines, big game hunting. Account of Victoria Falls and of travels to Rhodesia. Voyage home on 'Arundel Castle'. The second series of photographs covers a tour of the West Indies on the 'SS Carare' , 1935, including visits to Bermuda, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad, Venezuela, Panama and Costa Rica. The third group of photographs, undated, cover a tour in Uganda.
