Letters of reversion by the said Andrew and Janet of the said lands for 400 merks Scots. Kyrimvr, 24 Feb 1565. [2 tags, one seal appended]. Instrument of sasine following on charter containing precept dated 24 Feb 1565 in favour of the said Andrew and Janet, in conjunct fee, of the said lands. 24 Mar 1565. [Extract] Contract between the said Mr. Nicol Campbell, for himself and on behalf of Katherine Drummond, his spouse, on the one part, and John Farquharsone in Craignitie, on the other part, whereby, for the sum of 500 merks Scots paid as grassum, the said Mr. Nicol is to redeem the shadow half lands of Craignietie from the said Janet Pigot, liferenter thereof, relict of Andrew Hall in Craignietie, John Hall, her son and the said John Farquharsone, now her spouse, and to grant to the said Janet and her son a tack of the said lands for 11 years and to the said John Farquharsone a tack of the same lands for 8 years after the completion of the first tack; and the said Mr. Nicol is to grant a tack to the said John Farquharsone of the sunny half lands of Craignietie, for 19 years. Notarial instrument narrating that the said John Farchaarsoun stated that he was ready to fulfil his part of the aforegoing contract but protested that he should not be bound to make any further concessions to the said John Hall in the future; whereupon the said Mr. Nicol protested that this protestation should in no way affect the terms of the said contract. 2 Mar 1577. Procuratory by the said Mr. Nicol to warn the said Janet Piggat and John Hall to receive 400 merks Scots in redemption of the said lands. Kethik, 3 Mar 1577. Instrument of premonition following thereon. 6 Mar 1577. Notarial instrument narrating that the said John Farcharsoun renounced the said sunny half lands of Craignietie and the sunny half of the Cottartoun of Craignietie to David Foirman as procurator for the said Mr. Nicol Campbell, so that he might deliver the same to the said John Hall, tacksman thereof, until the end of his 5 year tack. 6 Mar 1577. Instrument of redemption of the said lands by the said Mr. Nicol from the said Janet. 25 May 1577. Procuratory by the said Janet for receiving the sum of 400 merks in redemption of the said lands. 25 May 1577. Notarial instrument narrating that in a court of the lands of Daluany and Craigneetie held at Craigneetie by Colin Campbell of Crunane, bailie thereof, William Grewar in Croudane offered to the said Mr. Nicol Campbell 400 merks Scots as grassum for a tack of half the said lands of Daluany; but the said Mr. Nicol offered the said tack to John Hall, portioner of Elrik, in terms of contract made between them and protested that he had fulfilled his part of the same. 14 Nov 1581. Notarial instrument narrating that the said Mr. Nicol Campbell required the said John Hall, occupier of the half lands of Craigneate, to receive five year tacks of the half lands of Daluany and Crandart in place of the said lands of Craigneate for payment of dues as presently paid by William Grewar in Glenyla, occupier thereof. 7 April 1582. Notarial instrument narrating that the said John Hall offered to receive the foresaid lands of Dalvanie and Crandach as required by said Mr. Nicol; which offer was accepted by Katherine Drummond, spouse of said Mr. Nicol. 3 June 1582. Precept of warning at the instance of said Mr. Nicol against tenants of the sunny half of the town and lands of Craigniatie, half town and lands of Crandoch and other. Kethik, 27 March 1583. Notarial instrument narrating that James, Lord Ogiluie, proprietor of lands afterwritten by right from Mr. Nicol Campbell of Kethik, offered to John Hall in Cragneatie the sunny half of lands of Craigneatie, presently occupied by him, in tack, which the said John refused; whereupon the said Lord ordered him to remove therefrom and enter into possession of the half lands of Dalwanye and Crandowart, protesting that, by so doing, he admitted no claims of the said John; who declared that he would do nothing which might prejudice rights granted to him by the said Mr. Nicol Campbell. 8 Nov 1583. Notarial instrument narrating that the said Lord Ogiluye required the said John Hall to pay tack duty on the sunny half lands of Cragneatie as offered by his lordship's own tenants or to remove therefrom. 8 Nov 1583. Contract between James, Lord Ogilvie, and James, Master of Ogilvie, his eldest son and they on behalf of Mr. Nicol Campbell of Kethik, on the one part and John Hall in Craigneatye, on the other part, whereby the said John Hall renounces all claims against the said Mr. Nicol relating to the lands of Craigneatye, Dalvanye and Crandwart and any claim against him to enter heir to his father and mother in the said lands, discharges the said Lord Ogilvie and the said Mr. Nicol of all actions raised by contract No. 2 supra, renounces all claim to the said lands in favour of the said Lord Ogilvie; and the said Lord Ogilvie and Master of Ogilvie, on their part, promise to grant liferent tack to the said John of the lands of Rauernye with mill and mill lands and to his successors for 13 years, they and the said Mr. Nicol renounce all rights they have to gift of escheat of the said John's goods - he having been put to the horn at instance of Mr. David Campbell of Donheid - and they renounce all actions they might bring as assignees of said Mr. Nicol. Edinburgh, 7 Feb 1584. Warrant by John Hall for registration of contract in the B. of C. & S. 8 Feb 1584. Notarial instrument narrating that John Hall, having renounced the sunny half of the lands of Cragneatie in favour of James, Lord Ogiluye, and James, Master of Ogiluye, removed with his tenants therefrom; whereupon the said Master entered John Farquharsoune therein in terms of contract made between them. 22 June 1584.
