Description |
The collection has been divided into three sections, though numbered consecutively throughout. For the sake of continuity of reference, the first section is based on the original inventory of the muniments compiled in 1719, retaining the original numbering of the documents. The second section contains the volumes deposited in 1935. The third and final section contains all the other documents deposited, arranged chronologically.

Archival history |
The Cuninghame of Caprington Muniments are deposited in the Scottish Record Office on indefinite loan. The volumes (see section 2 of this catalogue), which are of a public nature, were deposited in 1935 by Lieutenant-Colonel W.W. Cuninghame of Caprington Castle per Messrs J.K. & W.P. Lindsay W.S., Edinburgh. The rest of the collection was deposited by Captain R.W. Fergusson-Cuninghame in 1964 and 1965. A few records of historical value have been retained at Caprington Castle. |
