They include charter by Alexander Ferne, portioner of Petcalzeane and Nig, to his son, Thomas Ferne, of an oxgate of lands of Nig in diocese of Ross, earldom thereof, sheriffdom of Inverness, 14 June 1572, and sasine thereon, same date; testament dative of Margaret Abirnethie, spouse of Magnus Ferne in Cromartie (Com. Ross, 27 April 1620); testament dative of Magnus Fairne, portioner of Pitcalzeane (Com. Ross, 18 June 1634); testament dative of Alexander Corbat of Arkboll (Com. Ross, 23 February 1655); antenuptial marriage contract between Alexander McKye, second son of Robert McKye in Achnes, and Margaret Ferne, widow of Robert Innes of Calrossie, 27 April 1679; antenuptial marriage contract between John Macky in Languell, son of Robert Macky in Tounge in Strathnaver, and Christian Fearne, sister of Mr David Ferne, writer in Edinburgh, 19 August and 4 September 1682; apprentice indenture between Hugh Ross dyer burgess of Kirkcaldie, and Andrew Fearne, brother german of Mr David Fearne, writer in Edinburgh, 7 May 1685.
