The County Clerks' (Scotland) Club was formed in 1922. It was a voluntary association concerned with matters relating to Scottish local government and to Scottish county clerks, and also acted as a social forum for its members. Every county clerk was eligible for membership and on retirement might be elected as an honorary member. Management of the Club's affairs was exercised through an Executive Committee which contained the President, Vice-President and the Honorary Secretary as ex officio members. The Executive Committee and the officers were elected at the annual general meeting and they could also convene special meetings on matters of particular interest. From June 1943 the Club's name was changed to the Society of County Clerks in Scotland. The Society came to an end in the advent of local government re-organisation in 1975 |
