The Society was founded in 1877, with its head office in Dublin, and was registered under the Friendly Societies Act, 1896. The object of the Society was to provide financial assistance with the medical and funeral expenses of its members, who were of Irish birth or descent.
The Sir Charles Russell branch, no. 165 of the Glasgow and West of Scotland District, was founded 7 May 1889 with its registered office and meeting place at St Joseph's RC School, Lowport, Linlithgow. These records cover the years 1889-1922. The Glasgow and West of Scotland District of the Society appears to have ceased its activities in 1921. |
