This series contains records pertaining to the Royal Commission appointed "for inquiring into the duties, salaries and emoluments of the several officers, clerks and ministers of justice of the courts in Scotland, and for reporting what regulations may be fit to be established respecting the same". The material contained in this series includes minutes of the Commissioners meetings, papers and returns, and manuscript copies of nine of the Commission's reports. The Commission was established under a royal warrant dated the 8th of February 1815. The warrant was later renewed and the Commission continued its business until its final report was issued in 1821. |
